Case Study: MSD Ignition
To promote brand awareness and educate potential customers about their MSD Ignition products, MSD sponsored a contest on RacingJunk.com over a four-month period in 2009. Promoted on the homepage, on run-of-site banners, via internal message blasts and in the member newsletter, the contest offered a product prize each month to one randomly selected contestant.
To enter the contest, participants read a brief promotional piece about MSD ignition products then answered a few questions that reinforced features and benefits.
Participants also provided their name and email address, generating data for follow up marketing. Two follow up email offers to participants further promoted MSD products and offered special discounts.
