The Pines Speedway Met With The Winged Modified Drivers And Car Owners Attempting To Strengthen Division Pines Speedway
On April 6th the officials of The Pines Speedway met with the Winged Modified drivers and car owners in an attempt to strengthen and solidify the division. Low car counts from last season prompted the owners and officials of the speedway to take action in hopes of finding a mutually beneficial plan that would correct the declining number of winged modifieds. After speaking with many of the drivers and owners the speedway was happy to learn that the actual number of modifieds intending on competing at The Pines Speedway in 2002 was up from 2001. "We are very pleased with the outcome of this meeting and the fact that the Winged Modified division at The Pines Speedway will be staying and appears to be gaining interest." Said Race Directors Dave M. O'Brien and Kathy Ambrose.
The biggest news to come from the April 6th meeting was the unanimous decision by all those in attendance to open the division back up to the 6 cylinder cars. Now it will be the competitors choice of whether to run the 6 cylinder or the 8 cylinder powerplant. This should not only increase the car count for the Winged Modifieds, but also increase the level of competition for both the drivers and the fans. The new Winged Modified 6-Cylinder rules can be obtained by contacting the track office at 603-279-9959 or at The Pines Speedway website at http://darmik.tripod.com/pinesspeedway/. A complete listing of the April 6th meetings topics and agreements can also be found on the website.
