FOR RELEASE IMMEDIATELY

SPENCER, MASS. While admitting to being discouraged, Marc Curtis, Jr. hopes to turn his 2005 racing season in a positive direction this Saturday night at the Maine-ly Action Sports 100 at Maine's Oxford Plains Speedway. In two early season events the Spencer, Massachusetts driver led the early laps at the Lee(NH) opener and another event at Thunder Road(Vt) only to suffer technical problems which resulted in a less than an expected outcome. At Canaan(NH) Curtis won the Consolation round and made the feature line-up. However, it was another case of mechanical problems in the feature. "I finished 22nd in that race when my power steering let go," revealed Marc. So in each race it's been a case of mechanical issues. But, he's still moving ahead a step at a time. " At the same time I'm not too happy about it. However, if you want to be successful in racing you have to forget the past races and focus on the future ones"

A lot of Curtis' past problems this year can be traced to preparation. "I'm well aware of that. That's why we made a change in crew chiefs. Peter Jasper of Boylston(Mass.) came on board with us, recently. He worked with Rick Fuller's(Modified) car at Sheba Racing. Peter is very experienced in race car preparation. We're looking for some immediate improvements. My team and I are still on a learning curve in the American Canadian Tour. And I can tell you that the competition is very intense on that (ACT)circuit."

In between his ACT race commitments, Curtis takes in the Thursday Night Thunder at the Thompson Speedway in Conn. and does fairly well and is capable of running consistently in the top ten there. Doing well at that track is a confidence builder when he goes to the ACT events like this weekend's 100 lapper at Oxford. Curtis is one of a number of southern NH, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut drivers who have stepped up to challenge ACT's solid core of Vermont teams that are dominant in that series at the moment.

One of new teams challenging the dominant ACT regulars is going to break out and turn this into a northern versus southern New England challenge in the near future. And if Marc Curtis has his way, he's going to be the driver to do it. Oxford Plains is definitely on his agenda this Saturday night, July 30. The track gates open at 1 p.m. with a practice session set for 2:30 p.m. Qualifying rounds for the Mainley-Sports 100 will get underway at 6:30 p.m. For further information call the ACT Tour office at 802-244-6963.(end)
