Riverside Speedway Rules Meetings Attracts Large Crowd Riverside Speedway
Riverside Speedway, Groveton, New Hampshire held their annual rules meetings on Sunday, November 21st at the Cabot Motor Inn, in Lancaster, New Hampshire. A large group of drivers and crew members attended each of the meetings designed to discuss the many rule changes coming forth in the 2005 racing season. New General Manager, Dick Therrien moderated the meetings.
The first meeting being held was for the Street Stocks. the many changes were introduced to the large crowd, and many suggestions were made to tighten up the new rules. Much discussion was based upon the addition of foreign cars back into the class. The one hour meeting helped management gather much needed input for finalization of the rules for 2005. A new purse structure that will be implemented next season was also introduced to the Street Stocks. The purse structure is as follows: 1st - $125, 100, 75, 60, 50, 45, 40, 35, 30, 25, and 11-24, $20. This shows nearly a 40% increase over last season.
The next meeting was for the Super Stocks. This division has very few changes coming it's way in 2005. The division will run a new updated tire which met with huge approval to the large number of competitors in attendance. The Holley 4412 carburetor will now be mandated for the 2005 season, although the current Rochester application that some teams are using, will be grandfathered for the 2005 season only. Another hot topic that was discussed was allowing locked rearends. After much discussion, it was voted to not allow lockers for 2005. The other major topic was the clarification of shock rules for 2005. Once again, an orderly discussion came to an agreeable decision. The Super Stocks will also see an increased purse for 2005. Their new purse structure looks like this: 1st $150, 120,100, 75, 60, 55, 50, 45, 40, 35, 11-24 - $25. This division purse grew nearly 40% as well.
An overflow crowd poured into the Late Model meeting, as twenty-two race teams anxiously awaited the unveiling of the new rules package. After much discussion with the large gallery, the management team will put the final package together. The main discussion came on tires and shocks. Most all in attendance were satisfied with the new package as it was stated, but most of the excitement came from the new purse. This purse is the best Late Model purse in the area, and this is certain to make other race teams stand up and take notice, especially since expenses to race at Riverside will be considerably less than most other tracks due to the fact that the plan is to once again run on some used tires, integrated with some new tires. The new purse is solid all the way down the line:1st - $600, 400, 250, 200, 150, 140, 130, 120, 110, 100, 11-24, $60. This is a guaranteed purse for the 2005 season, and will not change due to varying car counts.
"This is a huge commitment by us here at Riverside" stated owner CJ Robinson, "But we felt it was a necessary step to show all the divisions, especially the Late Models, that we are giving 100% to taking care of our own in 2005."
The 2005 rule books should be ready and distributed by December 15th. They will also be posted on our brand new website, www.riversidespeedway.org. The new website also features a classified section, news sections and more. "The website continues to grow and change on a regular basis" stated Therrien. "We are working hard at making this site a valuable marketing and communications tool with our employees, racers and fans."
