Mark Lucas earns first PASS Mod title

A second place run at the final PASS Mod event of 2004 at Unity Raceway wrapped up the first ever Pro All Stars Series Mod division title for Harpswell Maine’s Mark Lucas. Lucas drove his Royal River Lawn and Lands/D.C. Stilley and Sons number nine to eight top five finishes in the eleven race series, including five runner-up spots. Lucas won the crown by a scant sixteen point margin over Jason Taylor of Searsmont Maine, with Wayne Allard of Stetson Maine third, just six points back from Taylor. Allan Moeller and Waterford’s Dana Grover rounded out the top five.
The first year series ran six companion events with the PASS touring Pro Stocks at Lee USA Speedway, Riverside Speedway, White Mountain Motorsports Park, Canaan Fair Speedway and Speedway 95 plus five stand alone races at Unity Raceway. The quick and competitive racing produced seven different winners. Steve Reno (West Bath, ME) led the way to victory lane with four wins while Wayne Allard took the checkers twice. Allen Moeller, Dale Cullivan, Dana Grover, Jason Taylor and Ben Rowe each visited victory lane on one occasion.
The 2005 schedule and rules for the fast and economical open wheel series are currently being formulated. A number of new teams have already requested numbers for 2005 as the series builds upon a successful first season.
