Over 165 cars compete in $5,000-to-win event

PLATTSBURGH, NY -- Bill Davis of Monson, MA drove a 1986 Pontiac Firebird to victory in the 2nd annual $5,000-to-win Enduro 200 at Airborne Raceway on Sunday night. Davis passed leader Robert Langlois of Randolph, VT with eighteen laps remaining, then held off a challenge from Randy Ryan of Orwell, VT for the win. Over 165 cars from New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Quebec started the 200-lap survival event, with less than fifty running at the finish. Langlois led the majority of the race, but faded late as his Oldsmobile Cutlass slowed in heavy traffic. Ryan, also driving a Pontiac Firebird, battled his way to the front to challenge Davis before losing ground over the closing laps. Davis beat Ryan to the finish line by 11 seconds. Langlois finished third on the lead lap, just ahead of Rich Agoney. Mike Forsey finished fifth, seven laps behind. Positions 6-10, in order, went to Rob Senecal, Wayne Thompson, David Trombley, Todd Langlois, and David Mitchell.
