Whip City to Host ‘Fall Foliage Winged Weekend’ Qualifier : Raceway Media

Westfield, MA – Whip City Speedway and International Speed Group (ISG) management is pleased to announce a qualifying event for the Fall Foliage Winged Weekend event, which will feature five divisions of mini sprint racing on Columbus Day Weekend at the Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, New Hampshire. The qualifier, scheduled for Saturday September 4th at Whip City Speedway, will guarantee starting positions in the Fall Foliage event for winners in the following divisions: 250s, 600s, 750s, and 1200s.

“Whip City is a great facility to host a qualifying race for this national event,” said ISG Director of Business Development Bob Stanhope.

“They run weekly divisions representative of those that will compete in the national event at Canaan. A number of drivers, aside from Whip City’s regulars, have already indicated that they will compete in this qualifying race to have a shot at a guaranteed starting position in the Fall Foliage Winged Weekend,” continued Stanhope.

Whip City and ISG anticipate a large contingent of sprinters on September 4th from the Granite State Mini Sprint Club, the East Coast Mini Sprint Association, the Central New York Mini Sprints, and Accord Speedway.

“The 1200cc sprint division is expected to produce up to twice the number of cars that the track sees on a weekly basis and the same could be true for the 250s and 600s,” said Stanhope.

“The track is already home to the core of 750s in the region and their support of the Fall Foliage Winged Weekend has been incredible,” expressed Stanhope.

The rain date for the qualifier is Saturday, September 11th.

ISG also announced two other qualifiers in New York State. Starlite Speedway in Trumansburg, NY will host a qualifier for 250s and 600s on Friday September 10th (Rain Date: September 17th). The Limerock Speedway in Caledonia, NY will host a qualifier on Saturday September 18th for the 250/270s and 600s. The rain date for that event will be September 25th.

The Fall Foliage Winged Weekend in New England is the largest sprint car event in New England. Held over a three-day period on Columbus Day weekend, October 8-10, the event will feature sprint cars from across the country. The weekend will open with a practice day on Friday October 8th and be followed by two full days of qualifying and racing on Saturday and Sunday.
