Chris Curtis Snags First Of 2004 At Twin State Speedway

Claremont NH - It was Pepsi Cola night at Twin State Speedway and the LaValley Racing Series at the NASCAR facility is getting bigger and better each and every week. The family oriented race track once again found a way to involve all family members as a bike race was held on the newly paved figure 8 track in the infield. Kristopher Sherette won the 0-7 year old division with Dillon Bodreau ( Grandson of retired Modified driver Erine Bodreau ) capping the 8-10 group and Nate Roy victorious in the 11 and up crowd.

The speedway also held fan appreciation night with Owner/Promoter Dennis Fleury purchasing 1,000 cans of soda that were given away free to the drivers, crews and fans alike who were invited down on the track to meet their favorite racers. Starter Tom Hulburd also carried soda's up into the stands for those who couldnt make it down onto the track.

Gary Baker and Linda Kimel also brought in a group of fresh air kids to enjoy the evening's events with sponsorship help from Bergeron Motorsports, Fellows Motorsports, Lanou Motorsports, KC Graphics and HRE Pro Stock and B & B Auto of Bellows Falls, Vt. also all donated four $25 gift certificates that were given away during the evening. The kids enjoyed a pit tour and free t-shirts along with food and drinks. Chris Stanhope and Walt Harris also purchased two bicycles that were given to a pair of lucky children. Robert of Domino's Pizza also offered all fans a 20% discount if they brought in their night's ticket stubs. Dave " The Mailman " Aiken #33 out dueled Ray King Jr. #9 to win the Batchelder Bros. Wildcat Division which was the first feature of the evening. The Wild Cat Divisions has an ever grown number of new cars. The Ross Tire & Auto Pro Quads were next on tap with John Ross Jr. #88 jumping out to the early lead. Caution would fly on lap 3 as Gordon Fletcher #6 stalled in turn 1. Ross resumed his lead on the restart until lap 5 when Paul Laffond #47 took to high groove and went to the front. The yellow flew again on lap 12 as Billie Jo Jackman #27 and Scott Boisvert #42 spun in turn 2. Laffond took off at the drop of the green but on lap 15 Steve Ferland's #12 came to a rest off turn 2. A lap and a half after the restart Matt Crouteau #37 went around in turn 4. On the final restart of the event Laffond took command and won with Ross and Walt Harris #2 in tow.

Next up were the Twin Valley Power Supply Super Streets and Greg Sargent #88 was hotter than the racing surface itself. Starting 3rd on the grid, Sargent snagged the top spot before the first lap was complete while the rest of the pack struggled to get in line. On lap 6 yellow would rear it's head as "Racin" Ron Menard #10 and Jessie Howe #00 got together in turn 4. Howe's car bounced off the wall and caught the side of Skip Harvey's #37, ripping Harveys whole right side off the vehicle. Sargent again bolted to the lead when the green flew with Chris Bergeron #27, Nate Young #0, and a host of others in hot pursuit. But only a couple of laps later caution flew as Phil Hayes #32 over drove it a bit in turn 4 collecting Mark McClay #15. The last 17 laps went caution free and Sargent ran away from the pack capturing his first win of the season. Bergeron and Young swapped positions twice with Bergeron finishing 2nd and gaining two points on leader Young.

The Dominos Pizza Lightning Stock feature saw Bryan Martin #2 take the early lead until lap 11 when Joe Rogers #3 lost a wheel coming out of turn 2. On the restart, Josh King #29 out gunned Martin for the lead. On lap 18 Ray Rawling #23 broke a right front rotor while running 5th halting the action and setting up a green, white, checker finish. King was up for the challenge and took home his first ever win with Aaron Whipple #21 and Martin right on his tail.

The final event of the evening was the Dexter Automotive Late Models. Kevin "The Wild Thing" Vaudrien #9 set the early pace and led until lap 10 when eventual winner Chris Curtis #7 muscled his way by hanging Vaudrien out to dry. The Late Models went green to checker and Curtis snagged his first win of the year with Jamien Deschenes #2 Joe & Jamie Lanou #6 & #35 and points leader Aaron Fellows #29 close behind.

On Thursday July 22, Twin State Speedway will be at the Concord NH Race Fever 2004. We will have the all-new TSS pace Truck, lettered by Kaotic Graphics and lighted by Whelen on display along with the #22 Late Model machine of Todd Rook. Also to appear down in Concord is Ricky Craven, Andy Santerre, Rick Fuller and many, many more.

Please join us this week at Twin State Speedway as Irving Oil presents another night in the LaValley Racing Series for all 5 divisions plus the addition of the Dwaft Cars. Always exciting every place they go.

Also on the docket is Claremont appreciation night. Fans with a current drivers license showing Claremont as your home town you can get into the races for a mere $5. Tell your neighbors, friends and relatives. You get a great night of racing excitement for only $5 a person. Triumph Auto Glass will also be on hand with discounted repair specials.
